New Trek trailer!

Mar. 6, 2009by:

The latest (and presumably final) STAR TREK trailer is online today and while what we're seeing looks good, it honestly feels like the same stuff we're seeing. There's some new bits in here but as a non-TREK fan I feel like I need to be convinced a little more to see this movie. I've seen a lot of the same beats over and over again and feel that maybe if they had included more new stuff in here my excitement level would raise a little bit. What do you think? Check out the new TREK trailer below or head to Apple.com to see it in HD.

Extra Tidbit: This trailer needs more Winona Ryder.

I'm not exactly a Trek fan, but I can't wait to see this movie. It looks fantastic, I'm counting down the days to this release.

wow

never been a huge trek fan, but for some reason I can't stop watching the trailer. The music, action, the characters (kirk, nero). Its such a well done preview for star trek's reboot.

Wow! Great trailer. I'm a Trek fan and I was skeptical of this movie. The chemistry of the original cast will be hard to beat. However, this just might be an epic SciFi flick. I think I can enjoy both the old Trek and this new version. Time will tell.

cloverfield cast

While I agree the men were pretty average in cloverfield, all of the female roles were very well cast, and featured relative unknowns ...

But either way, Abrams didnt direcet cloverfield, and seeing as he was knee-deep in trek stuff by then, Im guessing he had virtually nothing to do with it, other than knowing the other people involved and having a superficial production role.

Also, Abrams has a good eye for cast... no one had ever heard of jennifer garner before alias, and he was

Also, Abrams has a good eye for cast... no one had ever heard of jennifer garner before alias, and he was adament for a long time that she be the lead... So i think at least for the time being, and given the early positive feedback we've heard, theres no reason to be worried about the acting (and specifically from pine).

well

we'll see if this chris pine dude will convince me. But even though I like JJ Abrams, I thought the casting from Cloverfield was already mediocre. The chicks were hot and all but Michael stahl-david acted pretty bad and annoying.

@gamseslave. No I'm not. I am more of the Wolverine type of guy (just without the claws)...

Not a Trekkie

I never liked Star Trek, but I'd see this. I just really like J.J. Abrams. I guess in the future everyone is beautiful? Seems as though they've taken all the ugly people, loaded them into canisters and shot them into a star. Booyah.

My dad, who was a fan of the original series as well is also not complaining. He is pumped as well.

This could bring back all of the Trekkies AND a whole new generation of Star Trek fans, because I, like most on this website never saw anything of Star Trek before.. but this.. looks.. GREAT.

fat womanizer

Chris Pine is his name, and hes a pretty good actor... Kevin Smith, and i think i remember other people who wrote in after a screening, have said it was a career making performance, nad that hes gonna be huge after this
ANyway, look him up, or you might remember him as one of the three psycho-brothers from Smoking Aces (hes the one who fondeled ben afflecks face and generally had all the good lines and scenes) g, or go find a flick from last year called bottle shock... kids got range, and I

Pretty cool, but...

The Captain Kirk actor (never seen him before) looks like a whiny bitch. Even Paul Walker would be a better cast than this guy...The rest looks promising...

Wow

I have never liked star trek. Seen any of the movies or a single episode of any of the changing seasons. All i knew was Captain Kirk was a unforgettable icon and Patrick Stewart played Captain Picard. Everything however seemed boring and pointless. This looks great however. I never though i would say. I'm there opening day! I actually feel like catching up on some history lol..

I don't know anything about star trek that isnt common knowledge to everyone. I have seen only star trek: the motion picture.

I think this film looks really amazing and I will definately go to see. I believ its gonna be an apropriate introduction for someone like me.

the most noticeable difference is that he actors seem to portry the material alot more dramatic and seriously then in the older movies. This is not to say that I didnt enjoy the original star trek. it was a bit slow and times

But in any case this film looks totally epic and incredible and has to been seen on the big screen

I've never seen a single Star Trek and I have no idea what the story is about, but the visuals alone are enough to make me go see it. They're beautifully realistic.

THIS LOOKS RIDICULOUS!!! To the people who complain and whine and bitch about it not looking like Star Trek, what do you mean? Because it's glossy and shot on digital film? Well.. they didn't have that back in 1977, so no, it's not going to "look" like that. Give it up.

It's 2009. not 1977. This movie looks incredible for what it is, a reboot of a franchise that hasn't seen the good light since the 70's. If anything it looks more like firefly from some scenes.

Abrams sold me

I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. This looks absolutely nothing like "Star Trek." At all. Honestly, it looks more like "Wing Commander" as directed by Michael Bay. What a fucking joke.

It's nice to see this flick getting a lot of positive feedback finally. I was getting tired of all that bitching about the Enterprise being wrong and how it looked too shiny and glossy or whatever. Do they realize the thing is being built in this flick?? Of course it's going to look shiny! It probably even has that new spaceship smell.

Anyway, yes, I'm pretty sure most of the footage in this trailer was new. And awesome. Loved that music too. Looking forward to it!

Beautiful!

Gonna be an awesome film! Just hope the returns are on the same scale as the effort obviously put into this project.

Consider me sold!

I always dug Star Trek and ST New Gen -I was hesitant at first in terms of this reboot, but this new trailer has sold me hardcore. I'm there!

This is by far one of the best trailers I've seen in a while along with the first Watchmen trailer. And I'm not even a Star Trek fan. I'll watch this.

Holy F#cking Shit!

I'm sorry Mike but as a Trekkie, that trailer blew my mind. The epic feel to it just sent tingles down my spine and Eric Bana looks fantastic as Nero. I couldn't possibly be more excited.

Stunning Trailer

I never thought this day would come - a 'Star Trek' project I would be interested in. To all the naysayers and Trekkophiles bemoaning this, I say only "prepare to wake up."

And don't be scared by Rachel Nichols' cleavage, green or otherwise.
