Nintendo is going classic with a mini NES on the way

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Everyone loves Nintendo's Classic NES. That's why it's regarded as a classic.

It is the machine of video game's hey day. Yeah, there's been plenty of consoles since, and there will be plenty more in the future… but, to this day, nothing has come close to the communal magic shared among family and friends that came with picking up one of those NES controllers and losing yourselves in the world of THE LEGEND OF ZELDA or SUPER MARIO BROS. or MIKE TYSON'S PUNCH-OUT or… geez, I could go on and on with this all day.

Considering we're at a point in our culture where everything old is new again and nostalgia reigns supreme, it makes perfect sense for Nintendo to roll out a throwback version of their Classic NES, only this time it's coming in miniature form.

On November 11, you'll be able to pick up this system, complete with 30 games included. You can connect it via an HDMI cable to your television and go to town. The price tag is only $60, and, for that, you get a replica version of the original NES controller. A second one, for when you want to go two-player mode, will run you an extra 10 bucks. And, if you somehow still have your old controller, you can plug that in and use it, too.

So what games do you get with your purchase?

  • Balloon Fight
  • Bubble Bobble
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Double Dragon II: The Revenge
  • Dr. Mario
  • Excitebike
  • Final Fantasy
  • Galaga
  • Ghosts N' Goblins
  • Gradius
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Kirby's Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • Mega Man 2
  • Metroid
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Pac-Man
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • Super C
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to snag one of those during the holiday season. How about you?
