No surprise here as Last Airbender leads the Razzie nominations

THE LAST AIRBENDER was surely one of the worst movies I saw last year so it’s no surprise that M. Night Shyamalan’s latest disaster has topped the nominations for the 2010 Razzie Awards. AIRBENDER racked up 9 total nominations, tying it with THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE for the most nominations. I’ll never fully understand the Razzies (how can an actor be nominated for performances in two separate films?) but they seemed to have descended into some weird kind of camp. A new category this year is WORST EYE-GOUGING MIS-USE Of 3-D (hardy-har) and “Megan Fox’s Accent” is part of the WORST SCREEN COUPLE category (wokka-wokka). The Razzies would probably be more entertaining if they at least pretended to take themselves seriously instead of sporting jokes lamer than the ones in the movies they’re knocking. That said, they did get a few things right like Rob Schneider getting a Worst Supporting Actor nomination for GROWN UPS. The awards themselves will be handed out on Saturday, February 26 and you never know who’ll show up in person to pick up their award.
