Piven’s got the Goods

Jeremy Piven is teaming up with Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay (ANCHORMAN) for the upcoming comedy THE GOODS: THE DON READY STORY. Ferrell and McKay will produce for Paramount Vantage and Piven will star in the film about a legendary car salesman brought in to help during the key 4th of July sales week. Rick Stempson and Andy Stock (GARY THE TENNIS COACH) wrote the script though it sounds very similar to a Ferrell script, AUGUST BLOWOUT. That film was a pre-ANCHORMAN comedy that would’ve starred Ferrell as the cocky used car salesman. It’s unclear if THE GOODS is based in whole or in part on AUGUST BLOWOUT but it certainly is a coincidence. Neal Brennan (“Chappelle’s Show”) will direct the film for the studio. Filming is expected to begin this December in Los Angeles. Piven can be seen next in THE KINGDOM with Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner.
