Put down that Monkey Wrench and direct a video for Foo Fighters!

Thanks to a heads up from Jim Law, we have some cool news on a band I really love– Foo Fighters.

Obviously us news editors here on JoBlo don’t do a lot of music writing but many of us do share music videos on Movie Fan Central quite often. What if ones of those videos we passed around was directed by you? Extra bonus: it’s a video for Foo Fighters!

Well if you are an inspiring filmmaker who happens to love some Foo, then you might be interested in this opportunity. The band will shoot several different promos for each track from their upcoming album so you can get a feel for the new songs. This is how lead singer Dave Grohl explains it, “I had this idea that instead of going and spending a ton of money on one video made by a director who’s done it a trillion times, why not split up the cash and give it to the fans and let the fans make 11 different videos for the band? Instead of just making one video as the album comes out, we (will) have 11 different videos for the 11 songs on the record.” So that means 11 people have a shot at this. Why not give it a try?

The contestants must submit their videos to the band’s official website by the end of the month. Winners will be announced on February 23.

P.S. I’m convinced that Dave Grohl can do anything. That man is so damn talented.
