Ron Perlman using social media to push for Hellboy III to close the trilogy

06.04.2015

Off screen, director Guillermo Del Toro and actor Ron Perlman may be buddies, but that doesn't mean they have to agree on everything. For instance, Del Toro is pretty sure that HELLBOY III is never going to happen. On the other hand, Perlman feels the filmmaker owes it to the world to finish the comic book adaptation with another film.

Perlman is so outspoken about the third film that he has taken to social media to push for fan support for HELLBOY III. It started with this tweet:

The hashtag has also moved to Facebook where it has been shared over 10,000 times with over 35,000 likes. While this may not be enough to persuade producers, it is still early in the process. HELLBOY III is not the sort of project that can get backing via Kickstarter or similar crowdfunding platforms, but I would be willing to wager many of you out there would pony up some cash to make it happen. The original HELLBOY grossed just $99 million worldwide on a $66 million budget while HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY grossed $160 million on an $85 million budget. For comparison, PACIFIC RIM cost $190 million to make and only grossed $101 million domestically. That sequel was greenlit thanks to the $300 million in international box office.

HELLBOY III is probably a very long shot at this point, at least with Guillermo Del Toro involved. But, maybe Ron Perlman can return with a different director and a scaled down plot. Some Hellboy is better than no Hellboy, right?

I've been holding out hope for Hellboy 3 for years, and would love to see it finally happen. I'd prefer to get Del Toro back, but if not, how about Peter Jackson. Since Del Toro almost did the Hobbit, it would be neat to see Jackson would on something started by Del Toro.

I'd be all for a Hellboy 3!

However, this article lost me there at the end when it was suggested that maybe it could happen without Guillermo del Toro.

I hope it happens

but at the same time, I never really understood why it needed to be Del Toro at the helm? I know he is very good, but couldn't they try to find someone else to make the Hellboy movies if he's so busy?

Fingers crossed

If we can't get Del Toro, let's get Ron to direct it. It's not like he doesn't have the passion for it.

"We Earned It!" Fuck Yeah, Ron!

Reminds me of all the studio politics that were being played when Vin Diesel & director David Twohy wanted so badly to give audiences a 3rd "Riddick" film (if not to continue the 'Under'verse / Furya storylines set up in "Chronicles") to @ least give the character an action-packed send-off. What we got in 2013 wasn't filmed on as big a budget as "Choronicles"...but a damn fine "Riddick" movie, nonetheless.

I'd love to see everyone return. But you cannot *NOT* have Del Toro for this, tho.

I would trade every shitty 3rd chapter trilogy-ender ever made (X-Men: Last Stand...I'm lookin' @ YOU!) in order to make HB3 happen!

But the second movie SUCKED

I wasn't even a fan of the first movie, but the second one was just HORRIBLE. They are just so boring and the CGI is always horrible. Then the storylines are just boring and I hate when the whole movies plot could have been avoided if just one thing never happened.

You are such a cunt - seriously I think you have no ideas about films and ironically you call yourself master - 'debator' implying that your good at getting your point across yet every time you come on this site you critisize every single movie. You claim to have already seen Jurassic World and made a judgement on that so clearly you're a sad sad individual who needs to get a life, you haven't seen Jurassic World and you have some serious issues - I suggest you try and get a girl. It might

I check joblo 3 to 4 times a week, but very rarely long in. I am logging in now just because I am tired of seeing your negative comments on every piece of news. Everyone has a right to say what they want and have their own opinion, but you just say shit to say it. Maybe you're just a miserable person. Have a lollipop, take some drugs, have sex with animals, move out of your mom's basement. If you keep trying, eventually you will find happiness. I will pray for you.

Sharknado cost maybe $5 million. A "low budget" Hellboy would probably still cost at least $50 million....huge difference. Even if you are being facetious..

Well the man is in his mid 60s, but like Jackam with Wolverine & RDJ with Iron Man, Perlman IS Hellboy. He is also a very likable person & if he wants a Hellboy 3 like us fans do, then De Toro should give it to him. At the very least put it in the hands of someone he can trust.

I've been reading Hellboy from scratch and am bloody loving it. I re-visited and bought the movies on Blu Ray and do enjoy them (even if I'm not at all sold on the romantic plot). I would happily throw cash at another Hellboy, as long as everybody returns of course, and let's get Roger the Homunculus out of that glass case.
As a side note to this I'm currently burning through Del Toro's filmography due to all of this also, so thumbs up all around.

Couldn't agree more. I've loved everything Del Toro's done...except Pacific Rim. I was really excited for the movie, but wound up hating it. One of my bigger moving-going disappointments in recent memory.

Though it's a long-shot, I'd love to see more Hellboy!
