Rumors: Olga Kurylenko testing for Wonder Woman and Nightwing to appear in Batman vs Superman

Nov. 7, 2013by: Jesse Giroux

One of these new rumors for BATMAN VS SUPERMAN sounds more likely than the other, but remember, neither story has been confirmed, and there's a good chance both could turn out to be false. Not trying to piss on anyone's bonfire, but you have to be a little cautious when dealing with reports on uncertain truths.

Shmoes Knows is reporting that Olga Kurylenko is testing for the role of Wonder Woman in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. The site says the role isn't Kurlyenko's yet, but Warner Bros. is very interested in the QUANTUM OF SOLACE actress for the part. They also believe Wonder Woman will definitively be in the MAN OF STEEL sequel, although they aren't sure if it'll be just a cameo or something bigger.

Jaimie Alexander has also been rumored for the part, but there still hasn't been any word from Warner Bros. or DC saying the Amazon Princess will be in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. However, all of the signs point to her appearing in the film, and we know Warner Bros. is interested in using the character. But things could always change: look at what happened to Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane-Watson in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

Time to ogle Olga:

The other speculation comes from Latino-Review, and they seem to think Dick Grayson/Nightwing will also be in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. A "very trusted source" has told the site that the rumor is Nightwing will be in the film, but because of how secretive Zack Snyder and company have been with BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, it's been very difficult to get dirt on the project. The site claims that the studio is looking for a "young, John Hawkes type" for a part, and has been told that it is for Nightwing. Now, they're not saying the 54-year-old actor is up for Nightwing, just that the studio is interested in that type of actor for a role, and it could be as the former Batman sidekick.

Ben Affleck's Batman is suppose to be a seasoned crime fighter in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, but does that mean he already had a sidekick before the events in the new movie? Why will Dick Grayson be Nightwing in the film, and not Robin? Did he and Bruce Wayne have a falling out, and how much of that will be part of the plot for BATMAN VS SUPERMAN? Lots of questions, but not many answers for Zack Snyder's next film, and we're just going to have to wait and see if either of these rumors have any weight to them.

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN will be in theaters on July 17th, 2015.

Extra Tidbit: I'm calling it right now: the next rumor will be Joseph Gordon-Levitt is "in talks" to play Nightwing.

Might as well cast Francesca Jaimes for the role... XD Haha! Lol.

Just joking around. Kinda...
What about Kate Beckinsale? :) Am I the only one that'd think she'd be a good Wonder Woman?

I prefer Jaimie Alexander personally. All I've see of kurylenko is QoS, and I wasnt impressed. As far as night wing, I like the character, but I think they should save him for solo Batman movies

It would make sense if Nightwing was in it, and I think that'd be cool (I just said it'd be great if Clint Eastwood would have been Batman, and Affleck as Nightwing....maybe ten years ago). But, I would like to see a Batman movie-series progress through that entire comic book story of really all three Robins, or at least the second one. I guess we can't use Damien since Talia is dead, and I know this will be a different universe, but I hope they at least do what was done with the Incredible

I guess we can't use Damien since Talia is dead, and I know this will be a different universe, but I hope they at least do what was done with the Incredible Hulk and we can take what we've already seen and established. But on the other side, as I've said before, this movie is too soon. It's going to have to explain A LOT - how it's a different Batman, what Batman was doing when Man of Steel happened, who Nightwing is and what he's doing, and most importantly, kryptonite will have to be introduced and for whatever reason Bats will have to go looking for it, and find it first (tho that makes sense bc he's always known the weaknesses of each JL member just in case something went wrong). But what's his motivation? He wants to find out ab Superman and his possible weaknesses in case he tries to take on Gotham? Or are they gonna leave K out, and if so how is Bats gonna actually fight Supes? I think the story is gonna have Bats manipulated to fight supes, then of course they join up to fight whoever manipulated them, I just hope they can make that make sense for tricking the worlds greatest detective. Or is superman gonna be curious ab batman and told to stop him? What does Nightwing have to do with John Hawkes? That makes no sense. They just want a good actor? And I don't want Olga as WW. I don't even think she should be involved in this film, MAYBE a end of credits scene. But there's just so much this movie is going to have to explain and I think it's gonna be very very hard to do it. There's so many questions, and I don't think this film will turn out to be very good - again I think it'll be obvious that we needed a solo supes sequel and a solo Affleck Bats movie than this - but I'll be there opening week to get the answers.
(I am cool with Alexander for WW tho. She'd be really good).

Nightwing!! I'm on board!! I'll be honest, this is the exact direction I was hoping they would go for with this new Batman version. Especially with the "more seasoned" type of character, I thought this would be leaving the door open to start introducing more of the Bat-Family. Personally I envision it being like this, Batman has already had a sidekick, Grayson, who's grown and become Nightwing on his own. By the time Superman/Batman begins, Batman would have already had a second side-kick,

By the time Superman/Batman begins, Batman would have already had a second side-kick, Jason Todd, who was killed by The Joker. So Batman's generally pretty pissy about everything and why he's not that into working with others. When the new Batman solo movies start, they could do the Red Hood storyline as the opening storyline. And then they could expand to introduce Damian Wayne in a future movie. Forgoe having Tim Drake since I could care less about that character.

As for Wonder Woman, Olga Kurylenko seems like a bad choice. Nothing against her looks, I think she could definitely look the part. I just don't think she has the acting abilities to pull it off. She was pretty forgetful from QOS, and even in that movie she was pretty robotic and could really only master 3 facial expressions: Really scared, Really serious, Really Angry.

I hear you, I'm for that in theory, in that I wanna see that on film, but I'm concerned. If they start with Jason killed by the Joker, you and I (and most ppl on this site) will know why and understand Bats motivation, but the general public won't. It'll be another thing this movie has to explain, which is why I think this is being rushed.

10 Actresses I'd rather see play Wonder Moman over Carano or Kurylenko:

Remember Schmoes, it's much easier to dye an actress' hair or have her hit the gym than to try to teach her talent:
1. Eva Green (33, Rewatch her in Casino Royale and she just seems perfect for this)
2. Hayley Atwell (31, Has serious dramatic chops, I'd take her over Jamie Alexander any day)
3. Bryce Dallas Howard (32, Has the elegence and talent but Jurassic World would prevent this)
4. Isabel Lucas (28, Her choice of roles hasn't been great lately, but Terrence Malick is impressed by

6. Jennifer Lawrence (23, A very talented actress that would almost guarantee WW is a financial success.)
7. Alexandra Daddario (27, definitely has the physicality for the role and some actual talent to boot.)
8. Teresa Palmer (27, Watch her in Warm Bodies. She can act & handle action, dye her hair and she's good to go)
9. Margot Robbie (23, but looks a lot older. Scorcese cast her in Wolf of Wall Street, career is about to explode.)
10. Alexa Davalos (31, Has had some ups & downs, will be back on the map after Darabont's "Mob City.")

You know I thought there was gonna be some backlash soon to Jennifer Lawrence with her everywhere in the Hunger films, Mystique, and Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle - especially in the possibility of this role bc ppl and even the studio might think she's already known as these other characters, she's in too many franchises - but I really think she would be absolutely perfect as WW bc I think she can really show how innocent and naive WW is, play the fish out of water thing, she's

I think that's a big problem WW will have, bc ya she's sexy, but I don't think you wanna make a movie of her just being sexy. She needs to have way more dimensions than that. So much so that I'd go as far as to cover her legs up more in her costume. Maybe one shot for the fans of her normal suite kinda as a joke but then someone's like you can't go out like that.

Hey dude, I checked out pics on all your candidates and I just can't buy any of 'em. Not that they're not pretty, not talented, etc. Just that they don't have the look.

Shouldn't WW have that whole "greek" or "latin" thing going on? I mean, warrior build, dark skin, black hair, and a little Mediterranean look? Surely.

@Otis_Driftwood

1. Umm, the very first name on my list, Eva Green, is of Mediterranean descent. So are Alexa Davalos and Alexandra Daddario, so your point kind of seems null.

2. Even if that wasn't the case though, before the first Thor everyone was set on casting some nordic actor like Alexander Skarsgard and while I love me some Skarsgard, an Ausie actor ended up working out just fine. Just like the Jewish Robert Downey, Jr. played the Italian-bred Tony Stark. Or the totally white half

None of those actors match the source material's ethnicity but they are amazing actors so they pull off the role just fine. I'll take someone with legitimate talent over somebody you looks "Exactly like the character" any day of the week. That's what the gym and makeup department are for.

Hey, I'm not against you on this. But IMO, we just haven't came across the woman with the "right look" yet. Some good acting skills would be a major bonus.

Hang onto the list, but let's keep looking a little longer. What about the suggested Gal Gadot?

This film is going to be all about fan fair, nothing else (much like Man of Steel). DC just doesn't know what to do with their characters.

DC is jumping in like "oh Marvel did the Avengers, we have to catch up fast!". And Snyder is all like "wouldn't it be cool if Superman was dark and emo, and Batman was even darker and tired and weary. That's so cool!". And Goyer is in the corner reading 'Screenplays for Dummies' saying "Character development? What's that? Isn't that just backstory?"

The two actresses I'd LEAST like to see play Wonder Woman: Gina Carano and Olga Kurylenko

I've seen Olga in (checks her filmography) six films and she has not even come close to impressing me in a single one of them (To clarify: Impressing me with her hotness, yes, impressing me with any sort of acting talent: a big fat "No").

Also, while I love Latino Review, they are definitely not as on top of their game with their exclusives as they used to be. I could see the Nightwing rumor going either way, Shmoes Knows on the otherhand has been absolutely on fire in terms of devliering

No Jack Black was wanting to do the film, but he wanted to do it completely "funny" or in his style - I'm sure not taking any of the character's history seriously. He and his team wanted to do it, and he either approached the studio with his concept, or maybe just talked ab it in the media in hopes it'd make it happen. I know a script was written, but I can't remember of he wrote it. I do remember reading an interview with whoever wrote it - maybe it was Mike White - bc there was apparently

I'm taking everything about all these casting with a gain of salt. Gina Carano is my frist choice for WW but I'd love Jamie as well. Olga could be an interesting choice. Also if the rumors are true about WW and nightwing its most likely cameo's in the film and not actually a integral character in the film. At least I hope not.

Olga can't act either, period. Watch Casino Royale and then watch Quantum of Solace and compare the two. One has a Bond girl that can act crazy well, the other doesn't (plus has its share of other problems to boot). If you still have any doubts watch Max Payne, Hitman and Centurion. Some of those movies have their moments, but if we're talking "moments where the film almost delivers a quality product" then none of them involve Olga.

NOT Olga.... Everyone wants Jaimie Alexander

First off, if the rumors are true, this movie is starting to get a little crowded. And it's sounding more and more like a Batman film with Superman in it rather than a MOS sequel like it's supposed to be. Am I ok with Nightwing in [link] I can't decide. I'd like to see him and Batman together on screen but for this movie... not sure.
But now comes Olga Kurylenko. Hell no!. As WW..... An even bigger HELL NO! Did anyone see her in Max Payne and Hitman. She was terrible. She was ok in

But why are they trying to figure out which female actress to pick. Everyone wants Jaime Alexander and we know it's for WW. Jaimie is perfect for the role. She looks like her, has the acting chops to pull it off and she can actually fight and be a badass.

She obviously has the look to play Wonder Woman, but I don't think she's the right actress for the role (it took me two or three times to watch Oblivion to get used to her character). I still hope Jaime Alexander gets the role though. She would be perfect.

As for Nightwing, it would be cool to see him make an appearance, but I have more faith that we will see Wonder Woman in this before Nightwing.

I WILL ACCEPT NOBODY AS WW EXCEPT GINA CARANO. She has the perfect build/body, hair, moves, and since WW always had that Amazonian quirkiness and somewhat stiffness in language, we don't need a Shakespearian actress to portray here.

Why does it seem that DC always takes the wrong decision ?

I can see Warner Bros. seeing Olga as some type of prototype for Wonder Women, much how Saoirse Ronan was the prototype for Scarlet Witch for Avengers 2. it just reveals the type of built and physical mold they want Wonder Women to look. Tall and Amazon like. Olga has a Russian accent and she can't fake any other accent.

I find Olga as sexy as the next guy but never got her acting wise and she's too tiny to be Wonder Woman.

I don't' mind Olgo but no way is she Wonder Woman material. I just don't see. Jaimie Alexander has the look and if they are going to cast anyone as Wonder Woman, I hope its her. I just hope they don't pack too many people in this movie. If the rumors are true, they need to slow down a little. After all, this is a Man of Steel sequel not a Justice League movie. They are trying to play catch up with Marvel and I hope it doesn't bite them in the ass. I like quality over quantity

Hmm, I've never thought of Olga Kurylenko for Wonder Woman but I can't say I'm totally opposed to the idea of her in the role. I've always felt that Wonder Woman should have something of an exotic look as she's brought up near the Mediterranean and is of Greek heritage (well she was sculpted from clay but let's not get too technical); I guess Olga has a bit of that in terms of appearance and she could pass for a warrior given some training. I'd love to see Nightwing in a supporting role; I've

I'd love to see Nightwing in a supporting role; I've always wanted to see the complete Bat-family on screen and the presence of Nightwing does seem compatible with a Batman who's been around the block a bit and who is further into his career than earlier movie incarnations. Young John Hawkes...Ezra Miller? He'd be more suited for Jason Todd, though.

This could all be BS of the highest order. So, with that disclaimer out of the way and assuming there is truth in this stuff...if making short cuts are the intentions of such decisions...why not lets also assume that everyone in a position to know (e.g. Lex, Bruce...etc etc)....knows about kryptonite. They can then bring it in to the movie without no prior explanation...use it as we know how it's used...without anyone in the audience going WTF...and well...we'll be right up to Marvel like

Who needs building up and slowly introducing characters when you can then throw them in there like this. F-it, skip all this and lets get right in to a JL movie ;o). For me, one of the things that make the Marvel movies so great (given that none of them have blown me away) is the build up of everything...the teases in each movie to anotherthe interconnecting of it all. It's partly why Man of Steel bothered me so (the Lex truck and Wayne satellite don't count!). Sure, these are rumours that may well turn out to be BS but the way WB's are doing things or seem to be doing things...I have a fear...they might not be. Honestly, I still think they're making this all up as they go along.

No, just no

She doesn't really have the look for Wonder Woman, she can always muscle up for the role but she definitely does not have the acting chops. I would put Jaimie Alexander, Odette Annable - hell, even Emmy Rossum - ahead of Olga Kurylenko, acting-wise.

What have you seen Jamie Alexander in that proves she is a better actor than Olga. She was awful in Last Stand and replaceable in Thor

@cerealkiller182: when my wife says, while watching THOR: "You idiot, don't go with Natalie Portman's character, go with Sif. She kicks ass!" That says to me that Jaimie Alexander created a much more interesting and appealing character than a certain Oscar-winning actress.

And she was wasted in THE LAST STAND. You could tell she was a lot better than her role.
