Last week we received word that the film's main villain was cast in the form of Charlize Theron, and now we have another name to add to an already impressive ensemble: Scott Eastwood. The son of the famed Clint is quickly signing up for tentpole pictures, which started with FURY and has continued on to SUICIDE SQUAD, Ben Affleck's LIVE BY NIGHT and now, FAST 8. Eastwood's character looks like he's going to be playing for the good guys, as he's operating under Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody.

Scott Eastwood on FAST 8:

It's hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast & Furious. To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It’s a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can’t wait to join it. Now I can’t say too much, but I get to play a new character who operates under Kurt Russell in the movie, which is incredible, because Kurt was a total childhood hero of mine growing up. Very much looking forward to learning a thing or two from such an original and cool guy. Paul was a close friend of mine. We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul’s story, and the FAST family is like a dream come true. Gary Gray and Neal Moritz - I can’t wait to get started and dive in. Vin - thank you for the support and the insight. Paul - I am going to make you proud.

While I don't think Paul Walker was vital to the series, he was always a welcome addition to the cast and brought home the thankless every-man role. I don't know if Eastwood is meant to be the de facto replacement, but he certainly looks the part and means well. For what it's worth, if he's looking to make a name for himself, his agent is doing a bang-up job!

FAST 8 is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.

I love this dude. Looks just like his Daddy. He's got amazing genes. I haven't even seen any of his movies, but I wish him the best of luck. If he turns out to be Robin, or Jason Todd or Deathstroke in SS I'll lose my shit over how excited I'll be.

Paul not vital? Guy was the main attraction for 1,2, and 4. I'm a little fatigued for this serious at the moment. I just am tired of Vin's family moments. The writing has really gone downhill. Action is amped up but so has the cgi. I just want a tighter, smaller scaled one to finish off the serious.

He is nowhere NEAR his dad as far as acting chops. Ive seen most of what he has been in and its bad. Perfect choice for these bad movies.

Paul not vital to the series?

Did I read that right? Granted, he was taking more of a backseat up to part 6, but part 1, 2 and 4 he was arguably the lead in them, especially in part 1 since everything happened through his point of view....

Bring on Nightwing

I'm still hoping he is secretly Robin or Nightwing undercover in Suicide Squad. It's a long shot, I know. But, he has that perfect bad ass look that he inherited from Dad.

Good for him. He's a good actor and seems like a genuine, down to earth guy. Hopefully more big projects are to come.

He's either

the next Paul Walker-type character for the franchise (doubtful) or he's the secret traitor who later sells the team out to the bad guys a la Gina Carano's character in FAST 6.

Either way, Scott Eastwood's star appears to be on the rise. Good luck to him.
