One of the lesser discussed fantasy films that, along with just about ten thousand others, will soon be invading theaters is THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, the Mark Waters directed feature adaptation of the Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black series of children’s books of the same name. The film centers on twin brothers (both played by Freddie Highmore) and their sister (Sarah Bolger) who, soon after moving into the mysterious Spiderwick Estate, find themselves sucked into a fantastical world of faeries and fairy tale creatures. Mary-Louise Parker co-stars as the children’s mother with the rather eclectic cast including Seth Rogen, David Strathairn, Andrew McCarthy, Martin Short and, yes, Nick goddamn Nolte. Check out the first theatrical trailer over at Yahoo HERE. The film opens February 15th of next year.
