James Franco spoke to MTV about the possibility that like THE INCREDIBLE HULK/IRON MAN, there might actually be a SUPERBAD/PINEAPPLE EXPRESS crossover movie. I know. “Even before ‘Superbad’ came out, I think the studio was trying to get [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] to write a sequel, but they really didn’t want to write a sequel. I guess the kids would go to college or something like that [that was the studio's idea]... And so, an answer to that was to do a ‘Superbad’/'Pineapple Express’ crossover, an unprecedented crossover movie with two directors, Greg Motolla and David Gordon Green, each directing half of the movie and somehow these characters get together, which doesn’t make sense at all, but could work."

“I could sell them [the characters from 'Superbad'] something, but I think we’d want some action, so you know, somehow the kids get in trouble somehow and we have to get them out of it... And Seth plays characters in both movies, so somehow we’d have to kill one of them off.”

Also, I think that the "Superbad Crossover" would have been a sick move for a Tim Hardaway dribble move back in the day.

Extra Tidbit: Justin Long had a scene in SUPERBAD that was omitted due to length.

Oh Man
Please let this happen. I mean you can't loose as long as Seth and Evan are writing it.

Why not do a something along the lines of The View Askewniverse. Make a series of movies that take place within their own world?

Sounds like Franco decided to tell the public about a random conversation him and his friends had that won't ever happen. I'd be cool if it did though, assuming Pineapple Express is good. I heard it's good. Wait, is it out? It's out already? Oh man...

This would be superbad-ass. Just keep Michaels and Slater, they were like my favorite part.

I wouldn't be surprised if the studios did try to push for a Superbad 2 seeing as how well it did. And judging from My audience for Pineapple Express (Wednesday, 9:40 PM, about 90-95% full) no doubt this movie will do great too. I guess this is what their idea for a sequel to both may become.

I thought this would be about the fact that both movies take place in Clark County. I think Franco may have been kidding

2 Seth Rogens would be dope!
the two rogens could be brothers perhaps. having this tension between saul and rogen's character from superbad would be hilarious, because saul wouldn't trust the cops. man, the pure amount of crazy gags they could pull off by combining these films would be so awesome. It would be totally mindless, but totally awesome

A full on crossover would be too far fetched. I think what made Pineapple Express extra funny was that it was a comedy that lived in the realm of action movies (a place where you could get slammed in the face with a fire extinguisher or shot eight times and still be able to fight back immediately). So placing that into the very realistic and heartfelt world of Superbad would be a bit of a...

So placing that into the very realistic and heartfelt world of Superbad would be a bit of a clash. Maybe a cameo from Saul or something as a little wink. But even before all of that, I really don't think a Superbad sequel is necessary.

Wait, what?
Killing off the best characters in a comedy = not a comedy.

Just take a que from Kevin Smith and have them both in the film (just not meet)

Yes. I would like this A LOT. It's been talked about before m thinks It fits pretty nicely and would be a unique yet simple way to integrate the 2 movies together. Hell...McLovin + Saul = YES.

How about, because the Apatow gang rules, they do something different by continuing to do something different! Sequels (besides meant-to-be's such as Star Wars) are just for money. If Seth and Evan don't have their heart in it, it will suck. How about, because the writing team is two for two, they go on to write a third fantastic movie. With new characters!

Why the hell not? They can write a funny script and I can laugh, so bring it on.
