Tim Allen signs on as Buzz for Toy Story 4, wait what?

TOY STORY 3 is current many people’s favorite film of the year (myself included, though I’m seeing INCEPTION later tonight), and since trilogies are usually by no means a definitive ending for a series anymore, we’re all wondering if another one might get made down the road.

Well The Wrap is reporting that Tim Allen is under contract to reprise his role for TOY STORY 4, a project that doesn’t even officially exist. But the fact that the language IS in the contract implies that it’s certainly something the filmmakers are thinking about.

Disney’s official comment is that they have no plans for a sequel right now, though they will be debuting a TOY STORY short in front of CARS 2 next year. As for others involved with the series?

Toy Story 3″ director Lee Unkrich recently discussed the possibility of “Toy Story 4” with MSN Movies, saying: “I really tried my best to end the story of Andy and his toys and bring that story to a close in a really nice way at the end of [‘Toy Story 3’].

“That being said, we know that people love the characters, love Woody and Buzz, and would hate to say good-bye to them completely. … We don’t have any plans for (a fourth movie) — but we are trying to find ways to keep the characters alive.”

Tom Hanks, when asked about a “Toy Story 4” during the Los Angeles Premiere of “3,” said: “Bring it on.”

I don’t know, as much as I love the TOY STORY characters, I kind of want the series to end on a high note. The ending of the third film was a pretty much perfect bookend for the series, and too many franchises have been tainted by people saying, “oh maybe just one more.”

What do you think, do you want another TOY STORY?
