Warner Bros. plans to unseat Marvel at Comic-Con with Wonder Woman and more

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Ah, the San Diego Comic-Con! A haven for nerds, geeks, dweebs, spazzes, degenerates, and high-schoolers who eat lunch under the stairs. Basically, it’s a paradise for all the things that were once deemed odd for the people who were once considered outcasts.

But now everyone looks forward to Comic-Con, and for many reasons. The big one for us here is, of course, all the delicious movie news that will undoubtedly come out from the numerous panels. But now we have more reason to get even more excited, for now we know what certain movie studios have in store for us.

Deadline has reported on what one of the major providers of dorky cinema, Warner Bros. (for DC-related movies) will be showcasing panels for.

The big hitter this year will be Warner Bros. as they try to salvage some pride after their hopes for a massive start to the year with BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN went Bat-tits up. So they’re bringing out the big guns to discuss the upcoming slate of huge movies, like SUICIDE SQUAD, WONDER WOMAN, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE. KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD and KONG: SKULL ISLAND. Woo, someone get something cool to dampen my face with! I feel I may wither from being so a’faint!

Though there’s no news on if they’ll be unveiling new footage (probably), sharing new details (also probably) or getting nude on stage and fighting over bowls of ice cream (hopefully), we can expect to see big names from those movies’ casts.

From WONDER WOMAN we will see: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielson and director Patty Jenkins.

From SUICIDE SQUAD there’s gonna be: Will Smith Mar, got Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Cara Delevingne and director David Ayer.

From KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD there will be star Charlie Hunnam.

From FANTASTIC BEASTS the magical cast and crew of: Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell and director David Yates.

LEGO BATMAN will assemble: Will Arnett, and director Chris McKay.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND will roll out onto the stage: Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

With a line-up like that you’d have to be a pretty cynical person to think nothing awesome will come out of those panels. In fact, I can almost guarantee it, because they will have to do something in order to eclipse the only other major studio presenting something, Marvel (Fox, Paramount, Universal, Lionsgate and others will not be presenting anything).

But that may be a larger challenge than WB may think, because even though their own slate dwarfs Marvel’s expected two panels, those two panels are for the intensely anticipated films DOCTOR STRANGE and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 2, according to Screen Daily. Not only are those panels going to be huge, they are going to be on the same day as WB’s. Can someone give Marvel a mic so they can promptly drop it. They promise to give it right back.

There will be nothing about STAR WARS from Disney…so, yeah.

Needless to say I’m giddy as the giddiest school girl right now. There’s so much to look forward to, and not that much longer to wait. It’s like Christmas if you knew exactly what you were getting! Who needs surprises when you have knowledge? However, the only pointless “unveiling” is the huge SUICIDE SQUAD panel. The movie comes out less than two weeks after Comic-Con, so is there anything we don’t already know about it? Is there going to be anyone in attendance who doesn’t already have their tickets bought and costumes prepared? Clearly WB doesn’t know who they’re dealing with. At least we know they’ll have plenty of material to bounce back with. Make Gal Gadot use her Lasso of Truth on Colin Farrell and make him answer if he thought TOTAL RECALL was really a good idea!

The San Diego Comic-Con will take place betweem July 21-24 and we'll be there to cover all this madness with video reactions and panel write-ups, event coverage, interviews, photo galleries and more!
