William Fichtner will soon be joining Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium

Neill Blomkamp’s ELYSIUM is about to add another member to the cast.

William Fichtner, who has been in a million different things from GO to THE DARK KNIGHT to the cancelled series PRISON BREAK, is in final negotiations to join the film. This will also re-team Fichtner with his co-star from CONTACT, Jodie Foster.

I sort of love that the project is so secretive. I know I’ve said this a million times, but with a director like Blomkamp, I think we are guaranteed something very cool. We basically have the same information on the movie that we’ve had for awhile now. It’s a futuristic story said to be a social allegory in the same vein as DISTRICT 9. Syd Mead, the set designer for BLADE RUNNER, will also be doing set work for this film.

Fichtner should fit in quite nicely with Foster, Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, and Wagner Moura. Moura will play the powerful villain with a crazy sense of humor. Production on ELYSIUM will start in July with Sony set to release the film on March 8, 2013. I think it will definitely be worth the long wait.
