Remember Charmed? For eight seasons, from 1998 to 2006, The WB aired a television series with that title, about

a trio of sisters, known as The Charmed Ones, the most powerful good witches of all time, who use their combined "Power of Three" to protect innocent lives from evil beings such as demons and warlocks. Each sister possesses unique magical powers that grow and evolve, while they attempt to maintain normal lives in modern-day San Francisco.

Created by Constance M. Burge, the series initially starred Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, and Holly Marie Combs as sisters Prue, Phoebe, and Piper. When Doherty left the series after season 3, Prue was replaced by a long-lost half-sister named Paige, played by Rose McGowan.

Personally, I never watched any of Charmed's 178 episodes, but I was certainly aware of the show. The WB's successor The CW is now looking to cash in on Charmed name recognition and the fond memories viewers of the show might have of it by moving forward with a reboot.

Jane the Virgin writers Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin have come up with a story for the reboot and are currently at work on the script for a pilot episode. If this series moves forward, Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman will serve as its showrunner and will executive produce with O'Toole, Rardin, Ben Silverman, and Brad Silberling, who is attached to direct the pilot.

The drama is described as a reimagining of the original TV series set in 1976. The reboot will be connected to the original series in some fashion, though it's not entirely clear at this point how that will come to pass.

If you're not fond of the idea of Charmed being rebooted, there is some hope that this reboot might not get off the ground, as this isn't the first time a script for a new take on the series has been ordered. Party of Five co-creator Chris Keyser and his partner Sydney Sidner wrote a Charmed 2.0 pilot script for CBS back in 2013, but that didn't make it into production.
