Wonder Woman has "seen it all" by the time Batman v Superman rolls around

01.25.2016

While BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will surely belong to the iconic pairing of Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), another equally important character will be making her debut in the film as well; Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) won't have as much screen-time as her heroic co-stars, but her appearance will be setting up both her upcoming solo film and the epic JUSTICE LEAGUE two-part feature film. Speaking with Empire Magazine (via CBM), BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE director Zack Snyder said that the decision to include Wonder Woman in the film came from Snyder and company wanting to "try it all."

It was incredibly organic how Wonder Woman came into the story, the whole concept came of, 'Let's not save anything. Let's try it all.' Then Wonder Woman's entrance made us realize we were much closer to the Justice League than we thought. We realised we were one movie away.

Snyder also revealed that Wonder Woman has been around for a lot longer than we thought, having played the superhero game for over 5000 years. According to Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman has since retired from protecting the world because "she's seen it all, she has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight." Gadot then gave a few hints as to what separates Wonder Woman's alter-ego Diana Prince from the warrior princess, "they have the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tries to blend in, she is not too outgoing. I don't want people to think she is perfect. She can be naughty." Executive producer Deborah Snyder then chimed in with a few details on Wonder Woman's solo film, saying:

Her sexuality is part of her power, but she is also a feminist icon. Gender has been a hot topic, so it is very timely to bring her back. The way we have approached it, especially in the stand alone ovie, that is definitely there. Looking back and doing an origin story - and it is a period piece - see the role of women through history. There is a great source of humour in that now. It is so unbelievable you can't even fathom it. You are still making a statement, but having some fun with it.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will hit theaters on March 25, 2016, while WONDER WOMAN will arrive on June 23, 2017.

Meh

I have never liked the casting of Gadot as WW. She's a stunning woman, but there is just a presence lacking that is pivotal. I hope to be surprised.

And thank god they've taken this opportunity to "make a statement" about feminism. If there is anything we're lacking today in popular entertainment it's political statements in everything, all the time, everywhere.

I get it, DC had to try it all... throw it all out there so they could get to a JL film as quick as possible. They also didn't want to be seen to be copying their rivals in how they got to the end game. I get it. Still, if they really wanted to try it all...and throw it all out there...some seriously concrete links in the MoS would have been duly appreciated. I still get the impression they just weren't sure how well MoS would serve as the intro for a DCU...so held back on proper links to

I still get the impression they just weren't sure how well MoS would serve as the intro for a DCU...so held back on proper links to everything else. Instead, they were left with just one movie to bring it all in... it's hard not to think its all been rushed. I mean, not even a proper Lex intro in the first movie. This one will bring in Lex, WW, cameos from others and no doubt other surprises. I still haven't changed my mind on the fact that I think they've winged it from the very beginning rather than having some "plan". That all said, I'll happily take being proved wrong on this and I will give the DCU this - WW and Suicide Squad look promising.

I think we can all agree that what your saying is true. I'm positive they considered redoing supes before this decision

"Try it all." That's basically my worst fear about this film. Not save anything for an entire universe that's been completed untapped cinematically.

Can't wait!!

"You are still making a statement, but having some fun with it." Finally! The "F" word becomes relevant in the DCU!

That's one of the main aspects of Man of Steel I enjoyed the most; the fact that DC went all in and threw everything out there in terms of storytelling and action to set up Superman and the rest of the DCU. So the fact that there doing it again with Dawn of Justice is fine with me.

And everything from Wonder Woman's perspective in terms of style, design, and the mere footage we saw last week has looked great. Just a really exciting time to be a DC Fan and/or just a comic book fan in
