A young filmmaker by the name of Ilya Naishuller set out to make a music video for his band and in turn created headgear worn by a stuntman attached to GoPro cameras. The video for Bad Motherf*cker was a hit and apparently drew the attention of director Timur Bekmambetov (ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, WANTED), who offered to produce a feature-length film shot in the same first-person style. Over the next year and half, Naishuller shot and wrapped his film HARDCORE and is now going the Indiegogo route in order to raise funds to complete the special effects and sound work, among other things. A clip of the film is now online, featuring Neill Blomkamp favorite Sharlto Copley.

Take a look at the first-person frenzy:

As of now, the film is closing in on $20,000 and it's only the first day. It looks like Mr. Naishuller will have his funds by the month's end. The real question is if anyone wants to watch a full-length feature of this sort. Sure, we do have plenty of found footage films but judging from the clip online, this is a little more intense. I've watched and enjoyed the music video Bad Motherf*cker, but I'll be up front and say that I'm not sure I'd be interested in 90 minutes of that. I suppose we'll see how the end result turns out come next year.

HARDCORE currently doesn't have a release date, but we can probably expect some sort of release in 2015.
