The 2009 Golden Schmoes nominees are announced!

The official nominations for the 9th
Annual JoBlo.com Movie Awards (aka the Golden Schmoes)
have been
compiled and the official voting will begin on Monday (February 22 – March
4)
,
so sharpen
your fingernails and get ready to vote for your faves! The winners
will be announced on Friday, March 5th, just two days before those darn
"Oscar thingies" are handed out (which are getting later and later
every year, it seems).

Directly below are the films which received the
most nominations. I was personally surprised to see the top film with more
nominations than any other film in the history of the Golden Schmoes (the
previous record-holder was THE DARK KNIGHT with 16 nominations). The new
record-holder is now INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS! (yeah, I thought it would be AVATAR
as well). Four other films fared really well including WATCHMEN (another
surprise for me), DISTRICT 9, STAR TREK, AVATAR (there it is!) and ZOMBIELAND.

MOST NOMINATIONS
Inglourious
Basterds (18
nominations)
Watchmen (13 nominations)
District 9 (11 nominations)
Star Trek (9 nominations)
Avatar (9 nominations)
Zombieland (7 nominations)

Other films with a handful of
nominations include THE HANGOVER (6), UP (5), THE HURT LOCKER (5), 500 DAYS
OF SUMMER (5)
and MOON (5).

Remember that
each person can vote only once for the Golden Schmoes, but you needn’t be a
member of our site to do so. We will also be running our 10TH
ANNUAL OSCAR PREDICTION CONTEST
this year, so stay tuned for that as well.
See
previous years’ GOLDEN SCHMOES winners below, along with this year’s
