13 Fanboy: October release for slasher from Friday the 13th alumni

Last Updated on August 10, 2021

Distributor BMG-Global is launching a new genre division, and the first horror film to be released through the new division will be director Deborah Voorhees' film 13 Fanboy, a slasher with ties to the Friday the 13th franchise. Voorhees took to Facebook to announce that 13 Fanboy's release date is October 22nd. The film will be available to watch On Demand as of that date, and they're also working on getting a walk-in theatrical release in at least ten major cities. A drive-in release is also a possibility.

Voorhees is best known for her role in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, and she brought in several of her fellow Friday the 13th alumni to work on 13 Fanboy with her. In addition to Voorhees, the cast includes Friday the 13th stars Adrienne King, Kane Hodder, C.J. Graham, Thom Mathews, Judie Aronson, Lar Park Lincoln, Tracie Savage, Jennifer Banko, Ron Sloan, Carol Locatell, and Corey Feldman. Their co-stars include Andrew Leighty, Vincente DiSanti, Hayley Reece Greenbauer, and genre icon Dee Wallace.

Written by Voorhees and producer Joel Paul Reisig, the film tells the following story:

As a child, Kelsie witnesses the murder of her grandmother, a Friday the 13th actress, at the hands of a crazy fanboy. As an adult, she discovers her grandmother isn't the only victim and finds herself battling to save the life of her grandmother's best friend, also an actress from Friday the 13th, only to find she is now being targeted by the killer. But who is the killer? So many suspects, including the man lying beside her.

As a huge fan of the Friday the 13th franchise, I am very hyped to check out 13 Fanboy this October.

A batch of images from the film accompanied the release date announcement, and you can see those right here:
