STYD is reporting on some more casting news for JOY RIDE: END OF THE ROAD. It was already announced that Nick Zano and Nicki Aycox (below) will be starring.
The news rolling in now is that three more have joined the cast. Laura Jordan and Kyle Schmid will be joining this ride as well as Mark Gibbon as the infamous Rusty Nail. Now I’m a Paul Walker fan, and I’m a big fan of the first film. As for this sequel, at this point I’m more against it than for it. I’d just rather see a sequel with the cast from the first one returning and once again being terrorized by Rusty than a new group of kids being the victims this time. But who knows, I’ll check it out.
Sure I like horror franchises that center on the villan and not the supporting character, but I’m a stickler for the ongoing story in franchises. (ie HALLOWEEN). The first film starred Paul Walker, Steve Zahn, and Leelee Sobieski. It was written by Clay Tarver and J.J. Abrams and directed by John Dahl. It basically centered on a trio of young adults being terrorized by a mysterious trucker.
This sequel, titled JOY RIDE: END OF THE ROAD, stars, as mentioned, Nick Zano, Nicki Aycox, Laura Jordan, Kyle Schmid, and Mark Gibbon. It’s written by James Robert Johnston and Bennett Yellin. Louis Morneau will be directing. According to STYD, this one centers on four young adults en route to Las Vegas for a concert take a lethal side trip, and when their beater of a car breaks down, they make the fatal error of stealing a car belonging to depraved, homicidal, sadistic, maniacal, sociopathic trucker Rusty Nail.
JOY RIDE: END OF THE ROAD is slated for release sometime in 2008. We’ll keep you updated on any more JOY RIDE 2 news.
