Michael Myers stalks his prey in new image from Halloween

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Michael Myers' last bloody reign of terror on the big-screen was close to a decade ago, in Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN II, but Danny McBride and David Gordon Green's upcoming HALLOWEEN sequel will bring everything back to basics as it will ignore all of the sequels and reboots which followed John Carpenter's original. Jamie Lee Curtis has returned to reprise her role of Laurie Strode, who is in crazy, bad-ass mode as she's waited forty years to come face-to-face with Michael Myers for the last time.

Speaking of The Shape, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a new image of the killer, and, if you look closely, you'll see that his left eye is still in a bit of a state after Laurie stabbed him with a coat-hanger in the original film.

Jamie Lee Curtis told EW that she couldn't be happier that HALLOWEEN would be ignoring the many sequels. "What I loved is that it surgically excises all of that dead tissue," Curtis said. "This is growing from just that original movie, 40 years later. There may be people who love the other movies, great — [they have] zero relevance to this story." Despite following directly in the footsteps of John Carpenter's 1978 film, David Gordon Green says that his film doesn't entirely ignore the other films.

This film isn’t one to narratively recognize any of the films other than the original Halloween. But we very much enjoy the other films and there’s a lot of very subtle shout-outs to a number of things that I think the big fans — the people that know the films scientifically — will get a kick out of, hopefully.

HALLOWEEN will hit theaters on October 19, 2018.
