Two new posters for The Meg will give you those Jaws summertime vibes

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water, Warner Bros. has released two new posters for THE MEG, an upcoming summertime romp starring Jason Statham. As you can see from the images posted below, the first print shows the toothy menace in hot pursuit of some delicious humans, while the other acts as a delightful send-up to Steven Spielberg's JAWS. Here's a question for you: If human flesh is supposed to taste like chicken, what do you think dog tastes like? Do you think the shark can tell the difference? Is it a matter of preference? Does the shark think to itself, "Man, I could really go for some dog, right about now?" I suppose we may never know.

Directed by Jon Turteltaub (NATIONAL TREASURE, COOL RUNNINGS), THE MEG tells the terrifying tale of when a deep-sea submersible–part of an international undersea observation program–has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific… with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew–and the ocean itself–from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below.

Joining Statham for a bit of outlandish fun are Li Bingbing (RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION), Cliff Curtis (SUNSHINE, THE DARK HORSE), Rainn Wilson (SUPER), Ruby Rose (JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2), Winston Chao (1911, ROAD TO DAWN), Page Kennedy (FREAKY DEAKY, TV's BONES), Jessica McNamee (BATTLE OF THE SEXES), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (THE BFG), Robert Taylor (THE MATRIX, ROGUE), Sophia Shuya Cai, and Masi Oka (HEROES).

THE MEG will swim into theaters on August 10th. In the meantime, be sure to have your wits about you when venturing into uncharted waters this Summer, and definitely don't go in the water if you have any open wounds. I mean, you're pretty much asking to be lunch at that point. Safety first!
