Cool Horror Videos: Shark expert evaluates scenes from Jaws, The Meg, & more

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Last month, we shared a Vanity Fair video in which a real life marine scientist watched and reviewed various shark-related scenes from several different movies. Now GQ has gotten in on this "shark expert watches scenes from shark movies" action with the release of the video embedded above.

In this one, it's marine biologist Melissa Cristina Márquez who watches and evaluates shark moments from the likes of JAWS, THE MEG, DEEP BLUE SEA, TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE, COUPLES RETREAT, 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED, ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE, and THE SHALLOWS.

Márquez makes some interesting observations, provides a good amount of information on how sharks really behave, and reveals the best way to deter a shark if you happen to see a hungry one swimming up to you.

Getting experts to take a look at these movies was a cool idea, and Vanity Fair and GQ both got good videos out of it.
