Ex. We talk Alita: Battle Angel with Robert Rodriguez & Jon Landau

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Fox brought out a few key first looks at CinemaCon this year and chief among them was ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, where they showed off two scenes in 3D, as well as new trailer. Based on the anime series and originally written by James Cameron, the script was handed over to director Robert Rodriguez to “edit” and then make the film himself. AVATAR producer Jon Landau has been the project since the early days as well and has helped both Cameron and Rodriguez bring this fan-favorite anime to the big screen. I sat down to talk with both Rodriguez and Landau about the the film, including the reception it got at CinemaCon, how James Cameron influenced Rodriguez in the course of making the film and what, if any, plans they may have in terms of making ALITA a franchise series. Check out the interview above and the Fox presentation reaction video below, which includes my breakdown of what we saw from ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL at CinemaCon.

ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL hits theaters on December 21st, 2018.
