Drew Goddard to helm X-Force with Deadpool in the lead for Fox

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Deadline has announced that Fox has set Drew Goddard to write and direct X-FORCE, an X-MEN-related spinoff film that centers around Deadpool and Cable leading a Black Ops task force of rough-and-tumble mutants who aren't afraid to break the rules in order to achieve their goals. Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing. Although Goddard is hard at work prepping BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROAYLE for Fox with Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Bridges, the in-demand filmmaker has already been plugging away at a script for the X-FORCE project, and will begin work on the film at his earliest convenience.

Ryan Reynold's DEADPOOL will assuredly be the center of attention for the project, and when Kinberg mentioned the property, he was sure to mention that Josh Brolin's Cable will be a major component as well.

In the meantime, DEADPOOL 2 is scheduled for a 2018 release.
