Warner Bros. pushes back the release of James Wan’s Aquaman

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Much of the general public associates Aquaman with the recurring jokes about his abilities, or lack thereof, as well as his sparkly orange and green costume, but when you cast a man like Jason Momoa in the role, you're making a big statement: don't f**k with the guy who talks to fish. Momoa made a very brief cameo appearance in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, but our first real introduction to the character will arrive in Zack Snyder's upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE on November 17, 2017. The plan was for Aquaman's standalone movie to hit theaters on July 27, 2018, but Warner Bros. have now pushed that date back by several months.

AQUAMAN will now be released on, drumroll please, October 5, 2018. No reason has been given for the shift, but the delay will definitely give director James Wan more time to spend on all aspects of the project. We still don't know all that much about AQUAMAN just yet, but Wan has previously teased that the spirit he's going for is "like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story, it's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone." Certainly sounds like fun to me. The upcoming DCEU flick will star Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.
