Deadpool 2 writers are also working on the Zombieland sequel

Rhett Reese Paul Wernick Zombieland 2

Sure, DEADPOOL was a big hit and everyone is anxiously awaiting the upcoming sequel, but screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have another much anticipated sequel which they've been working on for quite some time: ZOMBIELAND 2. A sequel to the surprise zombie hit has been in the works pretty much since the first was released back in 2009 and, aside from a brief detour in which is was re-imagined as a terrible Amazon series, it seems as though it's finally coming together.

The pair appeared on AMC's Geeking Out with Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg where they revealed that they're working on the sequel right now.

That is breaking news that we're on Zombieland 2 right now. We're sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited.

The last time Reese and Wernick spoke about the ZOMBIELAND sequel, they mentioned that several writers had already tried their hand at penning the script only to fall up short. Seems like they're finally done waiting for someone else to get it right and have decided to get this thing completed themselves. It's been a while since I last watched ZOMBIELAND, but I recall enjoying it quite a bit; fun characters, cool zombies and one heck of a great cameo, but I didn't feel as though it needed a sequel. What the hell do I know though, here's hoping Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are able to prove me wrong.
