Last year, Disney capitalized on their Marvel properties when they released Disney Infinity 2.0, the update to their open world video game featuring Disney and Pixar characters in their own mini-games and sandbox environments. But, there were still limitations that prevented you from using toys from the original version of the game with the new characters. All of that is about to change with the announcement of Disney Infinity 3.0 which also brings with it the addition of STAR WARS to the game.

As you can see on the official Disney Infinity website and the embedded announcement trailer below, the new game will feature sets focused on the Clone Wars animated series, the prequels, the original trilogy, and STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. The packs will be fully compatible with the existing 1.0 and 2.0 toys which means you can have your Marvel characters interact with your Star Wars toys. Hulkbuster versus Darth Maul! Loki versus Darth Vader! The possibilities are endless!

While the games are marketed more to kids, the craftsmanship in the figures makes them worthy collectibles. Plus, these games tend to come with original voice actors in a lot of the roles. The 3.0 update will also feature characters from Pixar's INSIDE OUT and TRON: LEGACY. The starter pack for the new game will retail for $64.99 and you can pre-order it now.

There is no street date for the game but I would expect it to be before the release of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS on December 18th.
