Every time I hear something new about the upcoming TV series based upon the SCREAM films, I find myself scratching my head, and now that the first trailer for the series has landed…I still find myself scratching my head. I should really stop crawling through the neighbour's bushes. Thanks to this past Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, we can finally share this trailer and a couple of promos with you; check them out and let us know what you think!
After watching these trailers I'm still not exactly sure how they plan on pulling off a SCREAM series; unless it's 10 episodes of attractive people dealing with overly dramatic relationships who find themselves getting picked off one by one by a killer who makes minimal appearances. Wait…I think I just answered my own question. There are touches of SCREAM contained within these trailers, such as the series meta-commentary and humourous deaths, but at the moment I'm still not sold on the idea.
According to THR, this is what we can expect in Scream: The TV Series:
The new series is based on the Dimension feature of the same name. The series kicks off after a cyberbullying incident results in a brutal murder, with the shocking violence stirring up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. It centers on a group of new teens — with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — who become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who's out for blood.
Although the show was previously slated to premiere sometime this October (which makes sense), it seems as though MTV had a change of heart as the show will now be arriving much sooner than that; Scream: The TV Series will show up on MTV on June 30, 2015.
