Joel Kinnaman confirms his role in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad

Last month we heard that Joel Kinnaman (RUN ALL NIGHT, ROBOCOP) was up for replacing Tom Hardy's role in SUICIDE SQUAD and it looks like that's going to be the case! While Kinnaman didn't say that we would be playing Rick Flag, he did confirm he'd be taking a role and that it would be "awesome." Not much, but sounds great to me! Kinnaman will be joining an already stellar cast that includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevinge, with Viola Davis and possibly Jesse Eisenberg.

Straight from the Kinnaman's mouth:

Joel Kinnaman hasn't been in the spotlight much (ROBOCOP aside) but I was first introduced to the man via The Killing. Now, I'm not going to say that's the greatest TV show in the world, but I'll be damned if it doesn't have a hell of a performance from Kinnaman.  My fellow Netflix-ers should absolutely check that shit out! While he brings a different physicality altogether than Tom Hardy, Kinnaman is a strong actor and I'm excited to have him involved with SUICIDE SQUAD.

SUICIDE SQUAD is set to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
