First look at Mark Hamill’s return as The Trickster in The Flash

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Back in December, we learned that Mark Hamill would be returning to his villain role as The Trickster on The CW’s THE FLASH. Hamill originally played the same character on the original 1990s version of THE FLASH starring John Wesley Shipp as the title character. Shipp now plays Barry Allen’s father on the new series.

Hamill will be playing an older version of The Trickster who The Flash needs to leverage when a copycat begins terrorizing Central City. Devon Graye will play the younger Trickster and we now have a first look at set photos of Hamill in character. As you can see above, there are several callbacks to the first Trickster in Hamill’s clothing and hairstyle. Below you can see more photos as well as the first look at the new Trickster whose costume seems to fit in better with the updated series.

In all variations, The Trickster is a cross between The Joker and The Riddler and completely over the top. While THE FLASH is not exactly a bastion of high drama, it has so far successfully straddled the line between campy and thrilling. Here’s hoping it doesn’t dive too far here. I am excited to see Mark Hamill in so many projects like STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, so I will not complain.

THE FLASH airs Tuesdays on The CW. KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE opens February 13th. STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS hits December 18th.
