This trailer for Cinderella spoils even more of the film than the first one

Kenneth Branagh is a brilliant filmmaker. If you have never seen HENRY V or DEAD AGAIN, you are missing out on some awesome movies. In recent years, he has switched to more mainstream directing with movies like THOR and JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT. Neither lives up to his prior filmography, but I still had hope for his live action take on CINDERELLA.

When the first trailer for CINDERELLA debuted, I was immediately struck by the fact it shows everything about the film. Fans of the Disney animated film likely already know what to expect from the story, but by showing every key moment from the movie, Branagh’s film looks to offer nothing unique or enticing about the story aside from nostalgia and the gimmick of seeing these classic scenes performed by actors rather than cartoons.

This new international trailer for CINDERELLA won’t change the feeling that the movie doesn’t offer a fresh take on the tale, but it definitely adds to the visual spectacle of the movie. Unlike MALEFICENT or ALICE IN WONDERLAND, the CGI in CINDERELLA doesn’t look too over-the-top. I still don’t like Helena Bonham Carter‘s silly Fairy Godmother performance, but Cate Blanchett looks incredible here. I love Cate Blanchett and this looks to be a perfect role for her to let out her inner villain while chewing the scenery for all of us to enjoy. Lily James looks like a good lead here, but I am still struggling to find out what makes this movie worth seeing?

CINDERELLA opens in theaters on March 13, 2015.
