Al Pacino praises Guardians of the Galaxy; says he’d be up for a Marvel role

It seems that no one is immune to the charms of this summer’s highest grossing flick, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, as Al Pacino was recently caught at the Venice Film Festival singing the film’s praises.  Deadline recently picked up a few quotes from the great actor, and an interesting tidbit regarding whether or not there might be a place for Pacino in a Marvel film.

Pacino’s thoughts on Guardians:

It was not something I would readily go see, but my kids got me to go, and one has to draw the line at where prejudice starts and where it ends — that was good stuff! I recognized the ingenious stuff they were doing; the invention, the attractiveness of the way they were performing it. It had Shakespearian feeling to it at times. I was caught up in the big screen, the great sound…

If he would take a Marvel role:

I would do anything that I could understand in terms of how I fit in it. And you know, of course if I could fit in it. Anything’s possible. You know, I did Dick Tracy and I got an Oscar nomination, so come on. I mean, what can I say?

I think Al Pacino could have a lot of fun with a role in the Marvel-verse. Every now and again Marvel tosses a role to a veteran (Ben Kingsley) who can just take the part and run with it. I would equate Pacino to someone who could really dig in and deliver the great type of melodrama that works so well in these movies, whether it be a Guardians flick or another property.

In case you have nothing to do today, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is now in theaters!
