When you hear the name Arnold Schwarzenegger alongside the words zombie movie, chances are you get a big shit-eating grin on your face at the possibilities. While MAGGIE may not be THE TERMINATOR meets DAWN OF THE DEAD, that doesn’t mean it isn’t any less intriguing a project for the action movie legend.

Announced as a special presentation at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, MAGGIE has debuted a formal synopsis along with five images from the film featuring Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin.

A Midwestern farmer stays by the side of his beloved teenage daughter even as she slowly turns into a cannibalistic zombie, in this daring, genre-bending debut feature from director Henry Hobson.

There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of weaponry or headshots coming our way in MAGGIE, but it does look like it will be a dramatic stretch for Schwarzenegger who has followed his stint as governor of California with action movies and nothing else. The images don’t showcase what the zombies actually look like after they are reanimated, but I have the distinct feeling this film could be a surprise for everyone.

Expect our full coverage of TIFF this September. MAGGIE will hit theaters in early 2015.
