Rumored dates for Justice League, Wonder Woman, Flash movies and more!

Former Deadline founder Nikki Finke has been known as a hugely reliable source of movie news for years. She left Deadline unceremoniously last year and launched her own site. She has just dropped a big reveal regarding the upcoming slate of Warner Bros/DC Comics movies that confirms a lot of suspicions and lays out their plans for taking a big piece of the cinematic pie from Marvel.

Finke claims that her sources have provided the outline for when WB/DC will be scheduling their feature film slate for the next five years and that it will be formally announced at this July’s San Diego Comic Con. Treat this as a reliable rumor for now, but still a rumor. According to the sources, here is DC’s slate:

May 2016 – BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
July 2016 – SHAZAM
Xmas 2016 – SANDMAN
May 2017 – JUSTICE LEAGUE
July 2017 – WONDER WOMAN
Xmas 2017 – FLASH/GREEN LANTERN Team Up
May 2018 – MAN OF STEEL 2

A lot of this fits in with what we already knew.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s SANDMAN movie was already announced, as was JUSTICE LEAGUE, but now we know how a lot of things are shaking out.  Rumors of Dwayne Johnson starring in a reboot of GREEN LANTERN could still be possible, or maybe he is actually starring in 2016’s SHAZAM.  Gal Gadot looks to be getting her solo film and a true MAN OF STEEL sequel to cap it off.  Rumors also included a possible METAL MEN and SUICIDE SQUAD film but no mention of a Green Arrow film.

Finke also gave her source’s more detailed reason for the delay on BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and it seems to keep with what we all thought.

Like Marvel’s The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern [not played by Ryan Reynolds, thank god] may be introduced. And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn’t want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge.”

This is huge news because if you look at the break down, there are up to 3 DC films a couple of those years.  That is definite one up on Marvel, but the question remains how good the quality will be. Here’s hoping that all of the silence we have been hearing from the studio up until now has been due to careful planning and consideration on how to make all these movies the right way.
