Kelsey Grammer to take Nicolas Cage’s role in The Expendables 3

What’s going on with the reemergence of Kelsey Grammer? I’m certainly not complaining. I was elated to see that he got the part of Beast in X-MEN. After that the actor tried to break back into television with BACK TO YOU, HANK, and most recently BOSS which has already been cancelled. Now he seems to be back on the radar as the villain in TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION.

Thanks to working with Sylvester Stallone in REACH ME, Grammer has now taken a role in THE EXPENDABLES 3 that once was Nicolas Cages’. Grammer will play “Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables in their mission.” I have no problem with this switch because Grammer is awesome. I would have liked to see crazy ol’ Nic Cage in this but the stars did not align this time around.

It’s funny to see where Grammer’s career has gone after shows like CHEERS and FRASIER. Anyone remember DOWN PERISCOPE? One of the best things about Grammer is certainly his voice which can still be heard on THE SIMPSONS.

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables most personal battle yet.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 hits theaters on August 15, 2014.
