As we get closer to principal photography on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, more and more tidbits of information are coming to light. Some are concrete and others are just speculation, but everything is something when it comes to Marvel news! With Comic Con less than a week away, I am sure we will know for certain what is true and what is not.

First up, we have Chris Pratt showing off his superhero physique courtesy of a photo he shared of himself on Instagram. Much like he did for ZERO DARK THIRTY, Pratt dropped a ton of his comedy/chubby weight to look more like a Marvel character. Pratt will be playing the main character of Peter Quill/Star-Lord. According to the comment on the photo, Pratt says he owes some of his muscles to six months without beer. Damn, I need to give up on the brews!

Next up we have some more news on the trio of bad guys in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. We know that Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, and Lee Pace have all been cast as villains in the movie but we still don’t know for sure which are which.

Den of Geek claims to have a source that has identified who is playing who. Here are images of the three purported characters:

According to the source, Del Toro will be The Collector, Pace will be Ronan the Accuser, and Gillan is Nebula. All of these names have been thrown around but many had John C. Reilly as Ronan, not Pace. If these three are the correct roles, they all have ties to Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet which may be what is being set up for THE AVENGERS 2.

Whether that turns out to be the case or not, this still leaves open the door for who Reilly is playing as well as leaves us wondering who will be playing Rocket Raccon, Groot, and even Thanos himself.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY opens on August 1, 2014.
