See what could’ve been in the Hong Kong Phooey and Marvin The Martian live-action test reel!

JoBloJoBlo

Director Alex Zamm has produced some of the most asinine movies you ever saw on a DVD shelf.  From Carrot Top’s CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD to INSPECTOR GADGET 2 to TOOTH FAIRY 2 and an upcoming new version of THE LITTLE RASCALS, Zamm is essentially the go-to guy for all those DTV sequels and prequels that leave you shaking your head with “just why?” rolling off your tongue.

With that said, I have to give Zamm at least a little credit for this test reel for adaptations of both Hong Kong Phooey and Marvin the Martian, which is much more in line with the types of cartoons I’d like to see adapted.  Granted, what we see here isn’t blow-your-hair-back awesome, but it’s still a little compelling, if for no other reason than the Looney Tunes connection.  The Hong Kong Phooey piece is literally all toilet humor and the Marvin The Martian piece is a cutesy intro with an annoying kid, but there’s some promise there.  Both projects are sitting in limbo somewhere, so it’s unknown if they’ll ever take flight, but it’s kind of cool to see what could’ve been, even if we dodged a few bullets.

Th-Th-Th-Th-That’s all folks!:

Zamm’s adaptation of THE LITTLE RASCALS is set for (surprise!) video release sometime in 2013.  I’m sure you’ll be checking back here daily to find out just when.
