Director Rob Reiner has produced a number of classics, including STAND BY ME, A FEW GOOD MEN, and THE PRINCESS BRIDE, amongst others, but hasn’t done a bonafide thriller since 1990’s MISERY.  Now, it appears that Reiner will tackle the script for YOU BELONG TO ME, which is said to be a CAPE FEAR-like thriller, centering on a psychologist-patient relationship gone awry.

Reiner says that he hasn’t returned to the genre in so long, because it’s hard to find something he hasn’t seen before, but apparantly that’s not the case with YOU BELONG TO ME:

“They are hard to make well, but this one has a deep psychological bend to it and a big twist in the end that I didn’t see coming,” he says. “That’s why I decided to take a whack at this one.”

Production is set to begin in New York City this fall with casting already underway.

Reiner has also signed on to play the role of Leonardo DiCaprio’s father in director Martin Scocese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.  Reiner has been an actor since his TV days on All in the Family, popping in and out of various films throughout the years, so this should be no surprise, although it is his first film with Scorsese.

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET starts filming in August for a release in 2013 with YOU BELONG TO ME filming at the same time.
