The first clip from SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD has gone online today, featuring Keira Knightley and Steve Carrell as two people travelling together for the impending end of the world.  The duo stop at a restaurant called “Friendly’s” and are treated to some very unlikely service.

Here’s the synopsis:

As an asteroid nears Earth, a man (Carell) finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor (Knightley) who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan.

This seems like it could be a fun little movie.  I am already in love with Knightley and Carell is suitably funny in most roles, so the leads are easy to work with.  The supporting cast is pretty good to, with appearances from Adam Brody, Connie Britton, Patton Oswalt, T.J. Miller, Rob Corddry, William L. Peterson, Derek Luke, and Melinda Dillon.

It’s the directorial debut of Lorene Scafaria, who wrote NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST and judging from the trailers and this clip, SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD is very much in that same vein of comedy.  Could be good or bad, depending on your taste.

The world ends on June 22, 2012 when SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD hits theaters.
