Being produced by different studios, it may remain a dream to ever see Andrew Garfield spin a web alongside THE AVENGERS. But, that is not an issue in animation format!

Marvel Animation has released the trailer for their upcoming Disney XD series ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN. The show differs from past cartoon versions of the friendly neighborhood webslinger in that this version is not an origin story. In fact, the series will begin after Peter Parker has been Spider-man for a full year and receives an offer to join a superhero team.

The official website states “Watch as Nick Fury offers Spider-Man the biggest opportunity of his life: to join S.H.I.E.L.D., take on evil villains, and learn what it takes to become the ULTIMATE Spider-Man. Get a fresh look at Spidey’s action-packed adventures, new Spidey Tech, and special guest stars to excite fans and bring everyone’s favorite Wallcrawler to the small screen like never before!”

The animation style looks to be in the same vein as the Avengers cartoon that will air right alongside it. The show definitely has a light-hearted feel.  It is also will put Spider-man in charge of his own super squad of heroes.  His teammates will include Nova, White Tiger, Iron Fist, and Power Man.  Adrian Pasdar (HEROES) is set to appear as Iron Man and J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as J. Jonah Jameson from the Sam Raimi trilogy of films.

Both the second season of THE AVENGERS: EARTH’S MIGHTIEST HEROES and the first season of ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN premiere April 1 on Disney XD.
