Not to be confused with the Gus Van Sant remake of Hitchcock’s classic PSYCHO, the new film ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO has just added Scarlett Johansson to the cast. Johansson will play the role of Janet Leigh, who had a career peak with the famed “shower scene.”
Anthony Hopkins will be playing the Master of Suspense, while Helen Mirren will portray his wife, Alma Reville. James D’Arcy will portray Anthony Perkins.
Directed by Sacha Gervasi (ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL) with a script by John Mclaughlin and Tom Thayer, ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO follows the path of the famed film’s troubled production and the road that led to the making of a classic.
This sounds like an alluring project with a great cast and an interesting subject. For those compelled by the process of filmmaking this should be a welcome change of pace from the onslaught of uninspired remakes.
Plus, seeing Scarlett Johansson in various stages of undress for the shower scene may well be worth admission alone. While we’re always hoping for a good movie, when there’s a hottie involved you can’t deny that we’re also hoping for nudie bits.
Fingers crossed for both.
