Before you get all excited, we don’t actually know what the two Marvel movies in 2014 will be.
But according to slashfilm, Disney (where the Big M now resides) has already grabbed some prime real estate for a pair of upcoming Marvel movies — specifically May 16, 2014 and June 27, 2014.
We’re left with little else except speculation, but given that kind of high-profile summer placement, they’ll probably be reasonably big productions. Summer of 2012 gives us THE AVENGERS and 2013 will bring us IRON MAN 3 and THOR 2. Could the following year bring us a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, focusing more on Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and (of course) Agent Coulson? A second CAPTAIN AMERICA solo movie seems likely at some point, but will they also attempt to assemble THE AVENGERS for a second time?
Of the characters still under Marvel’s creative control (sorry X-MEN, FF, DD and SPIDEY), there has also been recent discussion about Edgar Wright’s ANT-MAN and a potential DOCTOR STRANGE feature, and the studio had previously been actively working on a RUNAWAYS movie.
Still hanging out in the fringes of Marvel’s roster are BLACK PANTHER, SHANG-CHI, POWER PACK, CLOAK & DAGGER, IRON FIST and LUKE CAGE. Marvel also recently reacquired BLADE and THE PUNISHER, for what it’s worth.
Disney has also scheduled an as-yet-unknown Pixar movie for May 30, 2014.
