Sony already has a date set for The Amazing Spider-Man 2

We’re still all trying to be convinced that a reboot of Spider-Man is a good idea, but Sony is so confident in their decision making skills and upcoming film, that they’ve not only greenlit a sequel, but they’ve picked a date for it as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to premiere May 2, 2014, making it the furthest out dated feature I’ve actually heard of. Here’s what they had to say to Deadline about the announcement.

“I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment.”

I guess they’ve liked what they saw, and for all of our sake’s, I hope they’re right. There are so many superhero projects these days, it’s hard to imagine the majority are going to be worthwhile, and I wouldn’t say no to a good film, even if it’s been done three times in the last decade already.
