Ed Norton might try to kill Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy

While they’re apparently chums off-screen, actors Jeremy Renner and Edward Norton will throw down in THE BOURNE LEGACY.

Renner is the Damon replacement in the sorta-sequel, playing “an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Bourne.”

Norton, a former member of the Marvel movie universe that Renner now occupies as Hawkeye, is in talks to play the LEGACY villain, presumably someone with similar Bourne-style skills.

Rachel Weisz is already on board, perhaps as the love interest. Or maybe someone more devious?

Details on the globetrotting espionage thriller are still top secret, but writer-director Tony Gilroy (MICHAEL CLAYTON) and Universal will have the attempted franchise relaunch in theaters for Summer 2012.
