Comedic cutie Anna Faris (WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER?, OBSERVE & REPORT) is in negotiations to star opposite Sacha Baron Cohen as the female lead in the controversial performer’s upcoming political/semi-improvisational comedy THE DICTATOR, says Deadline.

Faris would play the owner of an organic food store while Cohen portrays “a ruthless dictator who heads to the U.S. for a meeting at the United Nations and finds that his number two has replaced him with an unsuspecting sheepherder lookalike.” The dictator finds himself wandering the city only to inevitably encounter Faris’s store owner character. Romance, inevitably, ensues. As previously reported, the film tackles “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”

THE DICTATOR – directed by Larry Charles (BRUNO, BORAT) and written by “Seinfeld” guys Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel – opens May 11, 2012.
