In case you thought Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON needed a little more geek credibility, it’s certainly got it now!

EW is reporting that the legendary Leonard Nimoy will be lending his smooth vocal stylings to that of ‘Sentinel Prime’ – the predecessor of Autobot leader Optimus Prime – whose robotic remains can be seen in the film’s initial teaser trailer.

Sentinel was found crash-landed on the moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. Here’s EW with more on his appearance. Beware, though: SPOILERS!

“Later, after being brought to earth, he takes the disguise form of a fire engine in the movie’s massive, climactic battle through Chicago.”

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON explodes into theaters July 1st.
