Kid Beef is attached to an adaptation of Joe Hill’s horror novel HORNS, about a guy who wakes up one day with pointy head bones and supernatural abilities.
Amazon describes Hill’s book as “a dark, funny exploration of love, grief, and the nature of good and evil. Ignatius William Perrish wakes up bleary and confused after a night of drinking and “doing terrible things” to find he has grown horns. In addition to being horribly unsightly, these inflamed protuberances give Ig an equally ugly power–if he thinks hard enough, he can make people admit things (intimate, embarrassing, I-can’t-believe-you-just-said-that details). Keith Bunin (HBO’s “In Treatment”) is adapting the book, and Shia will be “closely involved in the project’s development”.
Hill, the offspring of macabre master Stephen King, also wrote “Heart Shaped Box”, an adaptation of which has been in the works since before the book even hit stands in 2007.
