Anvil! director in talks for a Hitchcock biopic next

JoBloJoBlo

We’re treading into meta territory here with a film about a filmmaker making a film, but that’s just what might be on deck for ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL director Sacha Gervasi.

He’s currently in talks to write and direct an adaption of Stephen Robello’s 20 year old book “Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of ‘Psycho.'” The book points out interesting facts about the film, like how much of a shocking departure it was for the director after his previous films, and it was meant to be the BLAIR WITCH of its day, competing against other low budget horror movies.

There have been a few actors approached to play the Hitchcock role in the past, the most prominent name being Anthony Hopkins, but no word on if he’s still being considered for the part.

ANVIL! was a great film, but it does seem like a bit of leap from there to here, though Gervasi would seem to have the smarts to turn the project into something quite enjoyable. Stay tuned for more details.
