Harrison Ford discusses Cowboys & Aliens, and still hates Star Wars

While out promoting his new comedy MORNING GLORY, screen legend and occasional grump Harrison Ford is, as expected, getting asked about other movies both past and future.

It sounds like he’s pretty happy with COWBOYS & ALIENS, and had a good time working with co-star Daniel Craig and director Jon Favreau on next summer’s big western/sci-fi mashup. As he tells Access Hollywood: “I had thought maybe I’d never get to make another cowboy movie. They’re so rare these days, but this was a really intriguing project and I think it’s gonna be very exciting.” (Ford’s last Western was 1979’s THE FRISCO KID.)

It’s a real cowboy movie, looks like a cowboy movie, feels like a classic cowboy movie, and then things happen, and then it goes back to being a cowboy movie with this added element,” Ford said. “And I think it’s the kind of film that there’s a real broad audience for. I’m very excited for it. I think it’s going to be good.”

Ford also reiterated his interest in returning for a fifth INDIANA JONES movie (as usual: “If there’s something that the three of us can agree on then I’d love to do it“), which isn’t surprising since he’s obviously fond of the character.

The same apparently can’t be said for the Corellian smuggler that made him famous.

On David Letterman, he referred to his charming space rogue as “Ham Yoyo” and waved off STAR WARS’ iconic status with a squirming “Yeah, yeah” (watch below). Of course, discussing the trilogy has long made Ford reluctant, dismissive or just uncomfortable  — Movieline has even collected an interesting group of older Ford interviews as evidence.
