Don’t be Afraid of the Dark teaser trailer offers us a lot of…well, darkness

JoBloJoBlo

Today we get the first teaser trailer for the remake of DON’T
BE AFRAID OF THE DARK
starring Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce. If you’re
wondering when you last saw Holmes in a movie, it was co-starring with
Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton in MAD MONEY in 2008, and BATMAN BEGINS
before that (2005). I wonder what she’s been doing with herself of
late…sigh. The trailer didn’t do much for me, in fact, if Guillermo del
Toro’s name wasn’t associated to it, I’d likely write it off as yet
another run-of-the-mill horror flick that studios have been pumping out
over the past few years. But his name IS on it, and so is an
R-rating, so I’ll reserve full judgment until we see more. For now, I will
assume that this teaser works better in theaters, since the first 40
seconds or so is…well, completely in the dark. The film opens on January
21, 2011.
